INTERGEO 2014 in Berlin is the 20th chapter in the ongoing success story of the leading international conference trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management. We look forward to seeing you at the event and have come up with something rather special to mark this anniversary. Germany’s capital city sits firmly in the spotlight of politics, the media and associations. We want to take this chance - also at the 3rd National INSPIRE Conference - to demonstrate how geoinformation has moved to the heart of society and provides the key to solving the challenges of our 21st century world. Modernising transport routes, mobility and expanding broadband all require the increasing digitization of our infrastructures - in the form of good governance via e-government. Climate change, the energy revolution and flood prevention are never far from the headlines and thus well-deserving of their prominent place on the conference agenda. The metropolis of Berlin is a prime example of a “Smart City” undergoing demographic change. The parallel “imaGIne-2” conference organised by the European Umbrella Organisation for Geographic Information (EUROGI) is evidence of the broadening internationalisation of INTERGEO.
