Tekes – the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation
Tekes funding is available for companies registered in Finland and for other corporate entities involved in economic activities. Grants and loans may be awarded if the project is research-based and the new innovations it is aiming at depend on markets that are not yet developed.
For research-oriented projects, SMEs can receive a grant of up to 50 per cent of the project's eligible total costs. The loan (50-70% of eligible cost for SMEs) is intended for projects, where the commercialisation of the product is near, or where existing know-how is being applied for generating new business activity. For research-oriented projects of large companies Tekes grants up to 40 per cent of the project's eligible costs. Tekes requires that large companies buy services from SMEs and research organisations, or implement the project as a joint project with them.
