The Institute for Social Ecology is engaged in interdisciplinary research, employing natural and social science methods and theories, to investigate processes of society-nature interaction. Its research fields are social metabolism, land use, transition studies, long-term socio-ecological research and modelling. The Institute has been involved in the latest IPCC report and in GEA (global energy assessment) 2012. It offers a master and a doctoral program in Social Ecology.
