“Facing complex outdoor challenges by inter-disciplinary research” is this years headline of the International Confernce on Machine Control & Guidance taking place in the middle of France in Vichy on the 5th and 6th October. The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers, scientists, industry representatives and PhD students to share their results, knowledge and expertise about Control and Guidance systems applied to outdoor fields as Agriculture, Avionics, Geodesy, Road construction, Civil Security, Mine site, Forest, Industry sectors… working in complex off-road environments.

Control and Guidance in this respeact mean both :

1/ Specific automation controllers embedded on machines to assist operator/driver

2/ More integrated solutions used to control global systems [ex: terrestrial or aerial robotic systems, UAV (Unmamed Aerial Vehicles), AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle), fleet of machines in production areas ….]               

Interdisciplinary exchanges are the add-value of this conference with synergies and links weaved during this conference between the different application sectors and research & development results.

Target groups are Researchers, Academics, Software and Technology developers, System and Service providers as well as End-Users

The conference is focused on research and development in order to increase the autonomy of offroad machines, acting autonomously or in cooperation with humans and/or other machines. From the “Control & Guidance” kernel, MCG2016 addresses associated topics for the partial or full autonomy levels such as: Perception (environment recognition, localization and mapping), Modelling (process, machine behavior, simulation), Decision support and making (supervision, fault detection), Connectivity / cooperation (between machines as well as between machines and humans), Platforms design.
