ICT-AGRI Project Summit in Dublin will reunite a total of 17 projects from 10 countries around Europe funded by the ICT-AGRI1 and ICT-AGRI2 (Information and Communication Technology and Robotics for Sustainable Agriculture) calls from 2010 to 2017. The funded projects are mainly focused on the application of Robotics in Agriculture and Livestock management. The purpose of the Summit is to bring together the ICT-AGRI community to encourage mutual learning and future collaborations, as well as the identification of novel areas of concern in relation of efficient and sustainable agricultural practices.
Background
ICT-AGRI ERA-NET initiative has been developing a Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) since 2010 in an effort to describe main challenges, goals and solutions of the application of ICT and robotics in the agricultural sector. The underlying rationale of the proposal is that modern agricultural engineering tools are necessary to enable agriculture to meet great challenges: The global demand for food, feed and bio-based products, to reduce the environmental footprint of agriculture, to respond to customer demands for healthy food and to combine precision livestock farming with high animal welfare standards. The different projects funded by ICT-AGRI and ICT-AGRI2 greatly contributed towards the development of resource-efficient and competitive agriculture practices.
Aim of the workshop
This event will allow participants from the different funded ICT-AGRI projects to highlight their research by sharing the impact that their results have had over the agricultural sector. It will also provide an active environment for knowledge-sharing and discussion with opportunities to identify and address knowledge gaps regarding to the improvement and application of agriculture technologies.
The output of the workshop will be the basis for future ICT-AGRI ERA-NET joint calls and other activities. The workshop will therefore focus on
• Synthesising the expertise of participants of technologies in agriculture
• Enabling discussion of stakeholders in terms of research focus and eligibility
• Setting research priorities for future joint activities
• Identifying possible topics for a common call of ICT-AGRI ERA-NET
• Identifying a first list of areas of concerns that will be relevant for future development and alignment of research.
