Dissertation: An Investigation into Odonata Woodland Habitat Selection
- using Multivariate analysis from field study data
As part of the course I have undertaken a River Corridor Survey with map drawn, whilst in Biological Surveying I produced a Phase 1 survey, an NVC Phase 2 survey, a Common Standards Monitoring survey and critique, and was introduced to mammal handling and marking with Longworth traps, bird netting and plant identification.
Conservation Policy introduced the Rio World Summit reports, Convention on Biodiversity(2001), RAMSAR, UKBAP, CITES, Natura 2000 with the Birds and Habitats Directives.
Environmental Education introduced the modern learning theory schools, and included preparation and implementation of a day-long learning exercise for 16-18 year olds.
Landscape Ecology introduced the ideas on landscape, matrix, patches and corridors for ecological analysis based on the ideas of Forman and McIntyre.
Managing for Sustainable Ecosystems introduced the basic procedures for a site analysis and plan.
Protected Area Management looked at implementations of techniques in protected areas, particularly Finland and its involvement in Natura 2000.
Research Methods identified the methodology and statistical tools for effective scientific analysis.

As a contract strategic planner with Royal Mail Anglia I was introduced and trained in Five-year strategic planning methodology and plan production, including document and numerical presentation.
Programming
I became a developer of Microsoft Access database applications. These included International Bank-linking software, an EIS application for an overseas bank, Year 2000 remediation application development, Full lifecycle analysis, development, documentation, user training and support.
The use of VBA enabled me to produce a VISIO automated documentation application.
As an Artificial Intelligence programmer I worked on natural language translation software on a project for the Home Office using PROLOG, the logic programming language.
