SmartAgriFood & ICT-AGRI Joint Call for

Services and Applications for Smart Agriculture

What are we looking for?

  • SMEs and Web entrepreneurs to lead the development of a new generation of ICT products (applications and services) to support smart agriculture.  The end users of these products will typically be farmers, horticultural producers or other organisations interacting and exchanging data with these agricultural producers.
  • Applications and services (new or existing) using FI-WARE technologies and delivered through the FISpace platform.
  • Applications and services targeted on three main sectors: Arable farming, horticulture and livestock farming.

What’s in it for SMEs and Web entrepreneurs?

  • Up to €100k in funding over 3 stages of development:
    • Stage 1 Prototype development (Up to €40,000 in EU funding, 100% funded)
    • Stage 2 End user trials (Up to €40,000 in EU funding, 25% matched funding required)
    • Stage 3 Business dvt. (Up to €20,000 in EU funding, 50% matched funding required)
  • Much more than funding… SmartAgriFood have partnered with ICT-AGRI to provide SMEs and web entrepreneurs with access to relevant experts from across Europe  to increase your chances of success and rapid European market penetration:
    • ICT-AGRI partners will help your company to access the data you require for development of your application or service and provide you with technical support in adapting this data for application in different European markets.  
    • FI-WARE experts will help you with hands on technical support and advice on the optimal synergies with FI-WARE and FISpace in development and testing of your application or service;
    • ICT-AGRI and SmartAgriFood partners will help to set up end user trials for your new application or service in two or more key European agricultural markets;
    • Finally SmartAgriFood partners will support you in Stage 3 to prepare a business model for rapid acceleration and access to start-up and growth financing.

What are the benefits for agricultural organisations and companies?

  • Fast implementation of decision support systems and other knowledge based systems with potential for a rapid European market penetration;
  • Share data with external applications and services and obtain added value from the use of data;
  • Upgrade existing applications/services with FI-Ware technologies and expand market take up.

How do I apply?

  • The partnering service between SMEs and ICT-AGRI experts will be available from 1st August 2014.   SME applicants are strongly advised to identify potential experts from the ICT-AGRI network who can support them in development and testing of their application.   ICT-AGRI experts can be identified by posting a partner search on the ICT-AGRI site www.ict-agri.eu
  • To avoid you wasting time preparing a detailed application, to check the relevance of your idea a pre-proposal check is strongly advised. This service will be available from 15th August 2014 with full details on www.smartagrifood.com.
  • The call for proposals will be officially open from 1st September 2014-31st October 2014. You can apply directly through a simple online application form available on www.smartagrifood.com from 1st Sept.  
  • Further information and training webinars are available on www.smartagrifood.com along with contact details for all of the SmartAgriFood partners who are available to provide detailed feedback on the relevance and suitability of your application.
  • Depending on the availability of funding, a second call for application may be launched in December 2014 closing in February 2015.

When do I start?

  • Applications will be externally evaluated by independent experts in ICT-agri, business acceleration and FIWARE/FISpace.
  • Applicants will be informed of results by December 2014 with the first round of successful projects expected to start early in 2015.
